This is an attempt to create a family history of Pathinaril family of Vaisiambhagom, Champakulam.

Pathinaril family originated from Puthoothara family at Nedumudy. Puthoothara family had only three daughters. Thomman, son of Chacko Kanyakkonil of Vezhapra married one of these daughters, presumably the youngest one and resided at Puthoothara as there were no male children to inherit the family property. We do not know the name of this Mother of Pathinaril family, but the name of the father was assumed from the known names of his grand children, considering the tradition of Syrian Christians that eldest son would be names after the name of paternal grandfather, eldest daughter after paternal grandmother, second son after maternal grandfather and second daughter after maternal grand mother. The reason for not having an ancient family histpry for Pathinaril is due to the fact that the Father of Pathinaril family came from Kanyakkonil family of Vezhapra who got adopted to Puthoothara family. So, Puthoothara was not his real family. Sons of this Kanyakkonil Thomman bought 16 para nilam- about 160 cents of paddy field and moved to this farmland at Vaisiambhagom, their family became known as Pathinaril Chira means the bank/boundary land of the 16 para nilam- the Malayalam term for 16 is Pathinaru.
